Fashion Design, Artistic Textile And Footwear Design

The Module of Fashion Textile and Shoemaking Design integrates several compatible fields of art. These are:

• Fashion Design and Garment Construction. The course builds the proficiency of designing the authorial textile ensemble in accordance with the conception of a collection. Also the course develops ability of pattern making for the textile ensembles of various complexity. Students become capable of designing and producing the garment samples using the intended fabric and adhering to the appropriate technological operations.
• Artistic Textile. The course develops ability to create pieces of textile design of all types (batik, shibori technique, felt panel, tapestry, carpet) in accordance with technological principles.
• Footwear Design and Footwear Construction. In this course Students become acquainted with the classification of shoe types as well as their compositional and constructive features and the shoe sizing system. Students learn to work with the natural, artificial and synthetic materials and to exploit the necessary tools and equipment. Also The course builds the proficiency of designing and manufacturing of shoe samples of various types.

Alongside this, students are required to complete the basic module combining drawing, painting, plastic anatomy and the theory of art. Thus the courses of the basic module focus on:
The basic principles of academic drawing (both the constructive and plastic ones), its theoretical and practical aspects, the logic of shaping and the basic rules of space organization as well as rendition of plasticity and texture via drawing materials.
The main principles of painting (color, tone, coloring, lighting) and the production of works of art using various types of painting media (watercolor, gouache, tempera, oil).
The knowledge of human body (the spin and the system of bones and muscles), its motion and plasticity; ability to apply this knowledge in one’s own artistic practice.
